On 24 July 2018, the Malaysian Ministry of Industry and International Trade (MITI) initiated a dumping investigation on certain rolled alloy and non-alloyed iron or coil products. galvanized steel coils/sheets or galvanized iron coils/sheets, originating or imported from China and Vietnam based on the plaintiff's petition filed on June 26, 2018.

– Plaintiff: FIW . steel company
– Plaintiff's allegation: Plaintiff alleges that a number of flat-rolled, flat-rolled, galvanized or galvanized iron or steel products imported from Vietnam and China have recently increased significantly and dumped in the Malaysian market, causing significant damage to the domestic industry.
According to the initiation notice, MITI will send the survey questionnaire to relevant parties (including Malaysian domestic producers, manufacturers, exporters of the country under investigation, importers of importers and associations of importers named in the complaint).
Other interested parties may request the questionnaire by August 8, 2018 through Fax. The deadline for submitting comments/arguments and submitting survey questionnaire responses is August 23, 2018.
In the event that the interested parties do not submit the information/response or the information/response/argument is not submitted in an appropriate manner within the stipulated time limit, MITI will draw a conclusion based on the available evidence. .
Under the Countervailing Duty and Anti-Dumping Tax Act 1993 and related Regulations, a preliminary determination will be made within 120 days of initiation. If the preliminary determination confirms that the goods are dumped and causes injury to the domestic industry, MITI will impose anti-dumping duties to the extent necessary to protect the domestic industry.
